He didn't deserve Alice. He would always remind himself of that everytime she acted so kindly towards him. How she had lasted so long with him, he'd never understand. Even though he tried to forget Catalina and move on with his life, it was too difficult for him to forget the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He could tell Alice was trying to fit in but no one was making it easy for her, himself included. He would try and convince himself that he wasn't using Alice, that he really did want a legitimate relationship with her but it wasn't that simple. A small part of him knew that he was using her. For that, he felt guilty, she was everything and anything a man could have wished for and here was messing with the delicate balance of things.
It shocked him that she would even stick around with him so long. Was it pity? Did Alice pity him enough to stay in a relationship with him for five years? He loved her but in what way, he didn't know. Their physical relationship had been great. But Ben was afraid that one day the sex would be all that kept them together. He desperately wanted to make it work between them. But sometimes he was the problem, he was the reason they would never have a normal relationship.
The sound of Alice waking up hardly phased Ben at all. He'd forgotten she was lying next to him. It wasn't until she slid up behind him did her presence register with Ben. The feeling of her hands across his chest caused him to stiffen for a second. A shudder ran up his spine as her breath brushed against his skin. He closed his eyes as her face pressed against his. Slowly, he relaxed against her, their bodies fitting together nicely. Already she knew his body too well, she knew how to comfort him. He brought his hands up, one resting over her hand and the other against her cheek, lightly caressing and tangling in her hair. "It's always the usual."
A soft smile spread across his face at Alice's suggestion. She really did know him too well. "You know I can never sleep." Ben turned his head slightly so that his lips were centimeters away from hers. He could feel the light breath pass across and the familiar wanting need. His hand fell from her face and dropped to rest on her leg. "Especially not with you around." He smirked and kissed her lightly, just once before pulling away. His lips lingered for a brief moment as Ben studied her, searching her eyes for some sort of answer. The only problem was, he didn't what he was looking for. [/QUOTE][/ul]
